Nationwide: House price inflation reaches double digits

The latest Nationwide House Price Index reveals:

"House prices increased by 1.0% month-on-month in April, annual rate of price inflation moves into double digits for first time since June 2007, house prices are 10.0% below the October 2007 peak..."

UK inflation rate rises to 3.4%

In the year to March:

"The consumer prices index (CPI) rose by 3.4 per cent, up from 3.0 per cent in February. Over the same period, the retail prices index (RPI) rose by 4.4 per cent, up from 3.7 per cent in February..."

Nationwide: House price inflation eases


Nationwide Building Society report:

"The price of a typical UK property rose by a seasonally adjusted 0.7% month-on-month (m/m) in March, largely reversing the 0.8% m/m fall measured in February..."

UK inflation rises To 3.5%


The Office for National Statistics report inflation in the UK jumped to 3.5% in January from 2.9% in December:

"
The CPI fell by 0.2 per cent between December and January. Although negative, this is the strongest ever CPI growth between these two months..."

4 in 10 savers set to turn their back on ISAs this year


Moneysupermarket.com polled over 1,200 users and the results revealed that 37% of respondents were planning not to use their ISA allowance for this year:

With a flat, low Base Rate over the past 12 months, it has been tough for savers and the outlook for 2010 is not much better, especially with a rise in inflation, which erodes the real returns on your savings..."
